Exciting Updates at Walt Disney World.

With Universal’s Epic Universe opening tomorrow, Disney fans are speculating whether Disney World will strategically release new details about its upcoming expansions to maintain the spotlight. Historically, Disney has timed major announcements to coincide with competitors’ milestones, and with several significant projects in the pipeline, this could be an opportune moment.

Announced during the D23 Expo in August 2024, Disney plans to introduce a Cars-themed area in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland. This expansion will replace the existing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, with closures expected in 2025.

Also unveiled at the 2024 D23 Expo, Villains Land is set to be a dark-themed addition to Magic Kingdom that promises to immerse guests in the world of Disney’s iconic villains. This new area will feature attractions, themed dining, and retail experiences.

Disney has also announced a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which will include Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster. This exciting attraction will take guests on a thrilling journey through the door vault from the films. Construction is slated to begin in 2025, replacing the current Muppet*Vision 3D attraction.

Given Disney’s history of strategic announcements, it’s highly likely that the company could release new concept art, attraction names, or details about these upcoming lands soon.
